Other people have suggested this, to have mini goals to the final goal. For instance, I want to lose 100 pounds by December 31 2018. My minor goal would be to lose 10 pounds by Jan 29, 8 pounds by Feb 28 etc.
It could be a good idea to add habits. Losing weight is a "product goal", an end result. You need to work on the "process goals" that will get you there, like drinking 1.5L a day, eating 5 servings of fruits / vegetables, exercising, etc.
